Howard Demott passed away on Fri. April 13, 2018 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, KS. He was born on June 7, 1922 near Blue Mound, KS to Joe and Ruth Demott. On December 7, 1944 he married his high school sweetheart Ernestine Robinson.

Howard served in the Army Air Forces during WWII where he served as a gunner on B17’s and B29’s, reaching the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1946. Following this service to his country he returned to school attending Kansas State University, ultimately completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from Pittsburg State University. He and Ernestine then moved to Spring Hill, KS where he taught high school and drove the school bus for several years. After his stint as a teacher, he then went to work for Hercules, Inc. where he stayed for 33 years until retirement. While his sons were growing up he served for many years as a Boy Scout leader. Following his own father’s example, Howard was a thirty second degree Mason for over 67 years. During retirement he was very active in the Antique & Classic Car Unit of the Abdallah Shrine, driving his convertible in many parades. He was also a member of the Valley View United Methodist church for more than 50 years.

Survivors include wife Ernestine, son Terry (LouAnn) of Lake City, FL, daughter Robin (Gilbert) Hill, of Shawnee, KS, son Kirby (Renee) of Olathe, KS; grandchildren Riley Hill, Allison (Ray) Hancock, Brie Demott, Lucas Demott and Connor Demott.; sisters Elberta Evans and Daisy Burrus.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Village on Monday, April 16th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the Abdallah Shrine, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66202-1225.
