She married Lee R. Settles on November 5, 1939 and they enjoyed 59 happy years together before his passing in 1999. They owned and worked together in a print shop-The Graphic Lab-until they sold it in 1964. She then worked in the Loan Departments at Home Savings and North American Savings until retiring in 1985. Lee and Irene loved to travel and enjoyed trips to many places in the USA, Canada, Central America and Hawaii. After Lee’s passing in 1999 she traveled with her daughter and son-in-law to many places in Europe.
Preceding her in death were her parents Orville and Mary Helm, sister Dorothy Rideout, and grandson Jason Shaw. She is survived by three children; Joyce Shaw, Janet (Dean) Campbell, and Robert (Judy) Settles. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 6 at 2:00 at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Fellowship of John at Foxwood Springs, Raymore, MO.
