Isabelle Ruth Little, 97, passed away peacefully at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was born October 18, 1916 in Green City, MO, to Bernie and Hazel (Hayes) Smart. Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old, so much of her youth was spent being raised by her Grandma and Grandpa Smart. At seven she was struck with polio, but it never slowed her down. At the age of 20, she boarded a train for Kansas City, where she knew no one. She soon found employment as a cashier at the Pickwick Hotel and rented a room; here she met her husband Noel G. Little. They were married February 3, 1938. Two children then followed, James and Karen. She then started a career of selling real estate. She loved doing this as she could schedule her time around her kids and she was successful with this career.
Mrs. Little was very active in Leawood United Methodist Church and school activities. Her favorite pastime was spending time with Noel, family and friends at their vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks. Fishing, cooking and baking were her favorite hobbies.
She overcame a rough beginning in life to become the very special person she was. She influenced and reached out to help many family and friends. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Mrs. Little is survived by one daughter Karen (Roger) Peyton of Drexel, MO, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, and son James N. Little in 2011.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice
