He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Elnora L Clark, whom he graduated from Center High School with in 1944. He was also preceded in death by his parents Bryan and Dora Clark of Unionville, MO and his brother Neil B. Clark of Kansas City, MO. He has one surviving brother Richard Clark and his wife Julia, of Unionville, MO and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his son Jack R Clark, Jr. and his wife Valerie K. Clark and his grandson Matthew R. Clark and his wife Megan.
Jack worked for Railway Express for over 20 years until the company’s bankruptcy. He then became an office manager for Churchill Truck Lines from which he retired. He was a longstanding member of Overland Park Baptist Temple with his son’s family. Additionally, he was a 50 year member of both the Masons and Eastern Star and over 40 years as a Shriner. He held many high offices in all of these organizations, including Worthy Grand Patron. He served as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for many years. Jack was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army and traveled around Western Europe as an MP guarding prisoners of war. He was very active in his neighborhood, where his neighbors and all the children loved visiting him. He also had a great time traveling and for many years would take his wife and grandson on exciting trips in the U.S. He always had a real passion for gardening and yard work and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held at the gravesite Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held after visitation at 2:00pm. Due to Covid-19, everything will be outside so there are no restrictions on the number of people; however, seating is limited so if you wish to be seated, please bring your own chairs.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or to Kansas City Hospice House.
