He was born in Chicago and at the age of five moved with his family to Kansas City. He attended Southwest High School where he was elected captain of his school’s basketball team and was on the league’s all-star team. After high school, Jack served as a military police officer based in Germany.
Upon his return from overseas, Jack worked at Lowe and Campbell sporting goods where he met his wife, Bonnie. Early in his career, Jack served as Vice President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and in the 1960’s he owned a Baskin-Robbins store in Prairie Village. Most of his career was in real estate where he became a broker and later the owner of his own company until he retired.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Diane, a sister, Nancy, a brother, Bob, and grandson, Zachary. He leaves behind his wife, Bonnie; sons David (Winnie), Ken (Trevor) and Jack (Jan); and daughter Sharon (Chris). He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11 in the Wesley Chapel at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the St Jude Children’s Hospital.
