Jacque Roger Dhooge
September 30, 1937 – March 30, 2017
Jacque R. Dhooge, 79, who was a resident of Overland Park, Kansas for 53 years, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 with his family present. Jacque was born September 30, 1937 in Berwyn, Illinois. He was the son of Rene and Godlieve VandenDorpe-Dhooge. A graduate of Rose Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana as an Electrical Engineer and then later earned his Professional Engineering certificate. He moved to Johnson County in 1964 with the love of his life, Audrey Wojcik-Dhooge. They have been married for 55 wonderful years. His greatest accomplishment was his patent for the "platter" used in Drive-in's and Movie Theatres. He worked for Wilcox Electric and then as Executive Vice President for Creative Controls until he retired in 1993. His love for his children and grand-children was immeasurable. We referred to him as "Mr. Fix It" and he always took pride in everything he fixed. In addition, he spent his time being an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign N0DJR, traveling, league bowling, and had a large passion for trains including model railroading. He always spoke of the past with a smile, saying "in my day," but his proudest pastime was his 1972 Javelin! It is where he learned to use his horn for his brakes. Jacque was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Rene Jr., Lucien and Russell). He is survived by his wife Audrey, son Tom and wife Kristi Dhooge, daughter Susan and husband Jeff Johnson, and six grandchildren Jaeson Campbell, Vikki Dhooge, Samantha, Jessica, Alexis, and Nicholas Johnson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in his name. Services will be held at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Rd., Leawood KS. Visitation starts at 10 AM, and Mass at 11 AM Wednesday, April 5. Burial following services at Mt Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd. A luncheon will follow at Cure of Ars Church in the Father Burak room. Condolences may be left at www.mtmoriah.net. Mum (Marie-Thérèse Vandendorpe: daughter of the brother of Oscar Vandendorpe) and myself (Françoise Veys) are deeply touched by the passing away of Jacque. I personally remember him very well from my two months stay in the States back in 1972. It may seem long ago but I never forgot his kind hospitality. We wish to present you our most heartfelt condolences. email@example.com
