Jacque was born September 30, 1937 in Berwyn, Illinois. He was the son of Rene and Godlieve VandenDorpe-Dhooge. A graduate of Rose Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana as an Electrical Engineer and then later earned his Professional Engineering certificate. He moved to Johnson County in 1964 with the love of his life, Audrey Wojcik-Dhooge. They have been married for 55 wonderful years.
His greatest accomplishment was his patent for the "platter" used in Drive-in's and Movie Theatres. He worked for Wilcox Electric and then as Executive Vice President for Creative Controls until he retired in 1993.
His love for his children and grand-children was immeasurable. We referred to him as "Mr. Fix It" and he always took pride in everything he fixed. In addition, he spent his time being an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign N0DJR, traveling, league bowling, and had a large passion for trains including model railroading. He always spoke of the past with a smile, saying "in my day," but his proudest pastime was his 1972 Javelin! It is where he learned to use his horn for his brakes.
Jacque was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Rene Jr., Lucien and Russell). He is survived by his wife Audrey, son Tom and wife Kristi Dhooge, daughter Susan and husband Jeff Johnson, and six grandchildren Jaeson Campbell, Vikki Dhooge, Samantha, Jessica, Alexis, and Nicholas Johnson.
