James Barton Anderson of Lawrence Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 10th, 2014. A visitation will be held Friday, October 17th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Homes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
James was born December 5th, 1923 in Robinson Kansas, to Floyd & Marguerite ( Miller) Anderson. He started with the Union Pacific RailRoad in 1941. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and was discharged in 1946 from the Pacific fleet. He retired after 44 years with the Union Pacific as an engineer. He belonged to a number of organizations including Abdallah Shrine, American Legion, Mason’s Lodge and the Knights Templar. He was a member at the Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence, Kansas for over 30 years. Bart, as he was known by his friends & family, liked to play golf and enjoyed retirement for over 30 years. He liked to spend time watching KU basketball with a number of friends and was on a bowling league throughout his entire life.
