James Caldwell

Jim was born December 5th, 1940 in Leon, Iowa. He graduated from Paseo High School, working in the Menswear Department at Macy’s in the summers. He went onto receive his Bachelors Degree in business at Central Missouri State University. Jim went into the Coast Guard after college, serving 1 active year and then reserves.

Jim worked as a computer supervisor at Guys Foods here in Kansas City, until the age of 60. Upon leaving the company, he pursued other job avenues of interest, including real estate.

Jim married Diane Thomason in 1982. The couple was a matchmade in Heaven. Not only did the couple love working together in real estate, but they also had a shared passion for travel. Jim and Diane had a condo down in South Florida they frequently spent time at. They also loved going on cruises together. They shared 42 love and laughter filled years together.

Jim himself was full of life. He had a flair for dancing, particularly West Coast Swing. He always seemed to find a friend wherever he went, he could talk to anyone about anything.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents; James Newman and Kathryn Caldwell, and his loving, devoted wife Diane.

He is survived by his brother Tom (Alice) Caldwell, sister Nancy (Paul) Kenworthy, niece Trica (Greg) DeCamp, nephew Jason (Brooke) Caldwell; along with numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elevate Hospice House and the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

Jim lived his life as a wonderful son and husband. As a great role model for his brother, sister, nephew, and niece. A positive example for us all.

A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A funeral will occur Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A graveside will occur Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
