A few years ago a post came up on Facebook that said share if a music teacher made a difference in your life. I had the privilege of sharing that post with Mr Carr and having a brief conversation to say thank you! I feel so fortunate to have him be part of my life story. He always saw our potential and helped us rise to the occasion. I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr Carr was a remarkable man who made the world a better place through his passion for music. RIP Mr Carr

I was in Mr. Carr's choirs from 9th grade through my senior year when I was also in Madrigal Singers. I was a conservative little nobody in high school but Mr. Carr chose me to be in Madrigal Singers and that completely changed the trajectory of my life. He cast me as Mary in Little Mary Sunshine that fateful senior year when I was in Madrigal Singers and gave me the confidence to do something brand new which has led to an entire lifetime of theatrical endeavors. Majoring in theater, Acting, directing and teaching theater have been my life's work since 1970. All of this happened because Mr. Carr took a chance on an inexperienced awkward girl. I adored him and was finally able tell him, in person, what Little Mary Sunshine had done for me when I attended the Madrigal reunion in Marion several years ago.
Mr. Carr has been a constant in my mind and heart for 48 years! And I am just one small story among the 1,000's of students he touched through his teaching/directing years.
Rest in peace dear, DEAR Mr. Carr and know that you have been the wind beneath the wings of many many people.

Mr. Carr was a great music teacher at SHS in Shelbyville,In. I had him all 4 years . I started out in a all girls choir then went to varsity singers. I thought the world of him. Most generally he would start class with this one song that he start off with and we the choir would repeat it. It was such a pretty song. I can't remember all the words but the first line was,"I heard the voice of Jesus say come unto me and rest. Mr. Carr you're now resting in Jesus.RIP
