He is predeceased by his parents, Jim & Rose Fenton. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Hozey), Overland Park, KS; son, Robert of Denver, CO; daughter, JoAnn of Overland Park, KS; sister Karen Morris of Nolanville, TX; niece, Victoria Morris of Nolanville, TX and great-nephew, Jameson Moss of Nolanville, TX.
Jim was born and raised in East Saint Louis, IL. While in high school, the family moved to Toledo, OH, where he graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School. The family then moved to Kansas City. Jim enlisted in the US Air Force on December 13, 1967 and served in Okinawa and Vandenberg AFB, CA. After the Air Force, he worked as a deputy for Johnson County Sheriff's Office and later as a dispatcher for Consolidated Freightways and security for the Jewish Community Center.
Jim loved sports, especially the old KC Comets and of course the Chiefs. He also enjoyed travel, including cruises and visits to Florida to see his aunt and uncle in Tampa.
Visitation for Jim will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 9:30-11:00am at Westbrooke Church, 9777 Antioch Road, Overland Park, KS 66212 followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will be held at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
