James Robert Gooch

James (Jim) Robert Gooch passed away July, 6th 2026 in Raymore, MO. He was 85 years old. Jim was born on February 25th 1941 in Browning, MO. He was the 7th child of Roland Forest and Amelia Matilda Gooch. He graduated from Meadville High School.

Jim worked for many years as a clerk at Yellow Freight Lines. As a child he enjoyed riding in a horse drawn wagon to visit his grandparents, playing in the creek with his cousins, and eating good food.

Jim will be buried near his wife Gwen in Raymore, MO.

Jim and his wife Gwen had a house in Raymore, and after her passing and his ill health, moved to the care facility. Jim and Gwen loved to travel the world going on cruises and competitive ballroom dancing with Gwen. Jim loved taking his many pets on walks, he even had a cat that followed him around.

He is survived by his sister Marilyn Powell of Hermitage, Maudie Gooch of Brookfield and Becky Potter of Milan. Many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives Vickie and Gwen Gooch, a sister Lora Montgomery and brothers Herman, Dale, Bill, and Alan Gooch

Visitation will be held at Old St. Patrick Oratory / ICKSP, 806 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106, on July 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A reception will take place at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131, on July 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
