James “Jim” “Jimmy” Francis Herzig Jr., 50, of Lee’s Summit, MO, lost his battle with cancer June 17th, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23rd, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, where a Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 24th. Jim was born August 25th, 1962 in Kansas City, MO. He played baseball at 3&2 where he later coached. He graduated from Ruskin High School in 1980, lettering in baseball. He attended Longview Community College playing and coaching baseball for their team. Jim worked for Town & Country Guttering from 1983 to 2013. He loved to hunt, fish, play and watch sports and go to truck & car shows. With tremendous pride he enjoyed watching his son, Zach, play soccer.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and nephew Matthew Hernan. Jim is survived by son Zachary James Herzig of Lee’s Summit, MO; parents James and Vicki Herzig of Kansas City, MO; sister Shari Hernan (Bob); niece Emileigh Hernan of Kansas City, MO; aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his four-legged companion, Diesel. He was loved and will be missed by all.
