James Joseph ‘Joe’ Schorgl, 92, passed away Sept. 19, 2014. Visitation Wed., Sept. 24th from 6-8pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with rosary recited at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Thurs. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit Rd., Indep. with interment following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Joe was born September 13, 1922. He was a WWII Army Veteran & a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe retired from the MO Pacific Railroad. He & his brother owned Northeast Hardware as well as J & L Electric. Joe was a member of the MO House of Representatives for 8 years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Helen (Rice) Schorgl; sister, Kathryn Davis; three daughters, Patricia Capps (Bob), Denise McMurray (Mike) & Elizabeth Borders (Roland); 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and one on the way & 1 great-great grandchild.
