

Colonel James Harold Kuhn, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at KU Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1921 in Hunter, Missouri, son of James Otto and Zilla Louise (Holland) Kuhn. He graduated from Paseo High School, and UMKC Law school. In college James was a member of the APO Fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout, and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say since 1937, with the title of “Keeper of the Wampum”. He served in the United States Army during World War II, continuing his service in the Army Reserves for over 30 years, retiring as a full Colonel. He was president of the Harry S. Truman Chapter of ROA for two years, and received the Fitzsimmons Award in 1996. He served as National first Vice President of the ROA in 1993. He was President of the Heart of America Chapter of MOAA for two years, 1993-1994. He was also a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple, the Masons, and “People to People International”. He retired from Suburban Realty last year after 70 yrs! James was married to Florence A. (Shefte) Kuhn for 54 years. He is the father of James Jeffrey Kuhn and Karen Hopkins, and the grandfather of Megan Hopkins, Wade Hopkins, Alex Kuhn, and Taylor Hopkins. Visitation will be held at Westport Presbyterian Church, 201 Westport Road, Kansas City, Missouri, at noon Saturday, April 17, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm. There will be a private burial service in New Lancaster, Kansas.
