

James Anthony "Tony" Macari, 87, passed away on January 7, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Manor. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Clifford and Audrey (Ayers) Macari. He attended Martin Elementary and Northeast Junior and Senior High School. He left school to marry the love of his life, Iona (Baby) Reuscher. From this union came one daughter, Diana Lynn. Diana married and had two daughters, Missy Coffel and Christy Metoyer.
Tony worked for Schlitz Brewery as a delivery driver for over 30 years. He lived his entire life in the Northeast Bottoms area of Kansas City surrounded by friends and family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved mowing the yards of this neighbors, and sitting on his front porch swing. He was very humorous with a dry wit and liked to give nicknames to his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Iona: sister, Marjorie; and his daughter, Diana. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Kimbrell; granddaughters, Missy and Christy; and several nieces, nephews, and friends
A celebration of Tony's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wed, January 14th at McGilley Antioch Chapel. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Monarch Hospice (www.monarchmidwest.org).
