James Francis Schurig, 70, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away September 3rd, 2011 at home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road. Private burial. Memorial contributions may be made to Harvesters and/or City Union Mission. Mr. Schurig was born December 1st, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1958, then joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1960. Jim served six years apprenticeship for graphic arts, and retired eleven years ago from Lifetouch Publications. Jim loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha (Lindley) Schurig; sons Mike (Gayle), Mark (Michelle) and Matt (Jamie) Schurig; and six grandchildren.
