James Albert Wilson

in Independence, Missouri.

Jim was born October 10, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, and lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He graduated in 1962 from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. Jim was on stand-by duty with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1964-66. During this time, he also attended Central Missouri State College for two years. He went on to serve on the USS Wallace L. Lind, a United States Navy Destroyer. He was on active duty from 1966-68 and ready duty from 1968-1970. He achieved the rank of Leading Seaman before being honorably discharged in 1970. Jim was always very involved and active throughout his life. He worked as an insurance adjustor, estimator, and job boss for different construction companies. Jim was a member of Connection Point Church in Raytown, Missouri, where he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized. One of his interests was owning and working on cars. He showed some of his classic cars as a hobby. His pride and joy were his candy apple red 1972 Chevy Nova. Cars were not his only passion. Through the years he owned several boats and spent time at the lake boating and fishing. Watching football, especially the Chiefs, was another one of his favorite pastimes. Jim loved his family. They often traveled to the beach for many of their vacations. He also enjoyed holiday gatherings as well as watching the grandkids perform.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hamby Wilson, and parents, Laura M. Fritz and Kennerd Wilson.

He is survived by his sons, Andrew (Allison), and Anthony (Amy), grandchildren Hadley and Silas, brother Tim, nephews John and Chris, great-nephews Taylor and Corey, and great-niece Krista.

A celebration of life is being planned for April 13, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests,
