

The family of James Allan Wood, 70, of Kansas City, MO, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on May 24th, 2026 at Advent Shawnee Mission Hospital due to complications from pneumonia. The visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, May 30th at McGilley State Line Chapel at 9:30am and 10:00am, respectively, immediately followed by a burial service at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO.
Jim was born on September 21st, 1955 in Kansas City, MO, the third child of Silas Albion and Mary Hope (Brown) Wood. Jim was a graduate of Bishop Lillis High School and proceeded to have a number of successful careers throughout his working life, including automotive painting, hospital purchasing, and general building maintenance. He retired from working for the City of Kansas City in 2018, where he had spent the preceding 12 years as a groundsman at Loose Park. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed playing the drums, assembling and painting model cars, and working with his family to perform extensive renovations on their shared home. Friends and family of the deceased will always remember his passion for music and maintenance work, as well as his strong character, natural charisma, and deep sense of humor.
Jim was united in marriage to Pamela J. (Allen) Wood on October 3rd, 1987, in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lawrence Paul Wood, and his sister Victoria Anne Wood. He is survived by his wife, Pam, of Kansas City, MO, and his son, Silas Dalton Wood, of Broomfield, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wayside Waifs or Band of Angels.
