Jane was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Grace Lewis. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri, then attended the University of Kansas receiving a B.S. Ed in 1935. She returned to KU in 1962 and received a M.S. Ed in 1963. She met Charles L. Omer while at the University. They were married in 1937 and moved to Johnson County, Kansas. In 1940. While there she was active in various organizations including the PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, League of Women Voters, Johnson County Civic Planning Council and was on the YMCA Board. She was one of the founders and a Board member of the Johnson County Library.
After receiving her M.S. Ed. In 1963 she worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center and at the Special Education District sponsored by the Olathe, Kansas school district. She was a Life member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In 1995 she moved to a retirement community (John Knox Village) in Lees Summit, Missouri.
She is survived by her three children, Don of Kansas City, MO; Robert of Kansas City, MO; Virginia (Gigi) and her husband, Don Bollard III, five grandchildren; Elizabeth Reeves, Robert Omer Jr., Josh T Omer, Christopher Reno, Melissa Reno and four great-grandchildren.
