Jane was born March 1st, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was very vibrant, loving, kind, and high-spirited. Jane’s life-long career has been as the owner and operator of the Gingerbread House Daycare Center in Mission, KS for over 50 years. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jane was an avid movie goer and spent most Saturday afternoons with her favorite girlfriends at their “movie dates.” She was a passionate animal lover and owner of many golden retrievers and cats throughout her life. Jane enjoyed creating and sharing various crafts with family and friends. She was a member of Community Christian Church on the Plaza. Jane was loved and adored by family and friends and will be missed dearly.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Telene Lehman.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Stephens, and her children Melodie Abernathy and Ken Smith, their spouses Greg Abernathy and Annalee Smith, respectively, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and sister Sally Reynolds.
A visitation at 10:00am and memorial service at 11:00am will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at the Chapel of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall, Overland Park, KS.
