

Janel Lenise Mangum passed away December 19, 2014. She was the younger of two children born on November 13, 1971 to John Mangum and Linda Cunningham Mangum in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended school in the Kansas City metropolitan area and graduated from Westport High School in 1990. She loved to learn and was always actively continuing her education. Janel accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where many of her family members remain active members.
The world was a better place because Janel lived. She loved to walk and would take walks many times to avoid being confined to the house. She enjoyed watching re-runs of “Good Times” when she was at home. She could always be counted on to give her honest opinion, listening ear and candid advice. She loved her family and made many sacrifices for the benefit of her children and grandchildren. They were the center of her life. She had many girlfriends and they friends counted it a joy to have Janel in their lives. She leaves to cherish her memory her life-partner Garron Reeves, her children Joe Allen Price Jr., Jerel Anthony Price and Joy Aarion Price, her grandsons Noah and London Price, her father John Mangum (Atlanta, GA), her mother Linda Cunningham Mangum, her siblings Eric Allen, Arenzo Henderson (Houston, TX), Jasmine and Erin Mangum (Memphis, TN) and a host of other family members and friends. Her brother Aaron Mangum preceded Janel in death.
Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Bethel Baptist Church, 4300 E. 18th St., Kansas City, MO. Burial in XII Gates Cemetery.
