The daughter of Beulah and Bertram Greider, she was one of three children growing up with an older brother, Jerry, and sister, Patsy. Sue married Robert “Bob” Burton on January 2, 1956. She was the “First Mate” to Bob while he was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk. Together they raised three children and were blessed with 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Sue was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. She loved cooking for her extended family over the years and never showed up to a family gathering without a pie – or eight – in her hands. Sue loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and was all of their #1 fan!
She treasured many lifelong friendships from her youth and Crossroads Baptist Church community in Wichita and was always up for a game night or a puzzle. She enjoyed crocheting and spent countless hours creating knit stocking caps for local children undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; as well as her daughter, Kathy Dill and son-in-law, Roy Dill. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Mark) Bruck; her son, Jeff (Kathy) Burton; 11 grandchildren: David (Katy) Dill, James (Crystal) Dill, Paul (Lu) Dill, Luke (Ilona) Dill, Wes (Emily) Dill, Jesse (Ali) Dill, Heather Dill, Scott (Sarah) Burton, Mark (Ashley) Burton, Valerie (Jonathan) Copan, and Dylan Bruck and 22 great-grandchildren.
Sue’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 1 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue’s honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
