Janet Rita Kunz

Janet was born in New Jersey and became a registered nurse. She found and married the love of her life, Robert. She was a devoted wife and mother, moving to Kansas in 1965 with her husband and three children, Bob, Mike and Theresa. Janet was a school nurse for St. Ann’s and then worked at a pediatrician office until she retired.

Jane is survived by her children, Bob (wife, Patty), Mike (wife, Sharon) and Theresa (husband, Ed), along with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brothers, Frank (Buddy) and Daniel; son-in-law, Dave (Coop); and grandson, Danny.

The Kunz Family would like to thank The Forum, Helping Hands, and Interim Hospice for all they did for Janet. They became a part of our family, and we will be forever grateful for the care and love they gave to Janet and the family.

Janet was a strong and independent woman who devoted her life to raising three children into kind, capable and successful individuals. A proud and spirited Italian woman, she was known for her honesty, her stubborn determination and her unwavering willingness to speak her mind. Janet embraced life with authenticity and heart, carrying those same values into her role as “Grandma,” a title she cherished above all others. She found immense joy in being part of her grandchildren’s lives, watching them grow, and celebrating the wonderful people they became. Her strength, love and wisdom will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Janet's visitation will begin at 9:00am, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Interment will immediately follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
