Janet Elizabeth (Chandler) Winkles was born September 5, 1957. Janet was lucky enough to be chosen by Wilma Jean Chandler and Lester Allen Chandler to be their daughter. While growing up she knew only love and a safe home. She became a big sister to two sisters Lana and Mara Lee. Growing up her sisters learned to play instruments, but Janet would be known to say “I don’t play an instrument. I play records.” Janet enjoyed listening to music, a passion she passed on and shared with her only son Brian.
Janet graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1976, and then went to work for K-Mart for over 20 years, after that she went to work for Musicians Friend, and was there for over 20 years. During this time Janet’s first marriage bore her only son Brian Mann.
During her lifetime, Janet enjoyed cross-stitching patterns for fun, and would often make gifts for family members celebrations. Janet was also a lover of moose and was blessed to see them in her life. Later in life Janet became an avid goer to car shows and cruise-in’s around the Kansas City Area and many other states with her husband of over 14 years, Mark, and their ’61 F100 Custom, ‘Baby’.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents Lester Allen and Wilma Jean Chandler and her brother Russell Darrell.
Janet is survived by her husband Mark Winkles of Raytown MO, her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Michelle Mann of Independence MO. Her only Grandchild Hope Mann. Her sisters; Mara Lee Adams of Kansas City MO and Lana Brethauer of Rapid City SD.
Janet waited a long time to become a grandmother and loved every minute of it, doting on her when she could. Janet loved to watch her play and hear her laugh. Janet will be missed by all who knew her. She is now reunited with her Parents and Brother.
