

Janice Faye (Capps) Jarrett, 70, was called to heaven on Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO. Visitation will be Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64133. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:00am at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Janice was born on March 5, 1951 in Pilgrims Rest, OK to Thomas and Faye Capps. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School and graduated in 1969. On October 7, 1978 she was united in marriage to Michael Jarrett in Shawnee Mission, KS. Janice and Mike had three children between them,
Stacey, Jessica and Brian Jarrett. Janice began her life long career with the IRS and eventually became an administrator of Human Services for GSA from where she retired in August, 2009.
Janice was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Family was everything to her. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally, and she was most happy when she was surrounded by them.
She was a generous, kind and welcoming woman who was always the first to help anyone she loved in need. She never turned away anyone who needed a listening ear, and always knew the right thing to say in every situation. Janice enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, traveling the country, and
watching her children and grandchildren participate in activities and sports. Janice loved playing games, especially cards, and enjoyed playing lottery games and bingo. Janice was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and St. Teresa’s Ladies Auxilary Charity.
Janice is survived by her mothers, Faye Capps and Sandra Flatt; husband, Michael Jarrett; her children, Stacey Jarrett, Jessica Jarrett, Brian Jarrett and his wife Michelle. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Grandfield and her husband Stephen, Cheryl Knapp and her husband Robin, Angie Slayden and Wendy Wilson; brothers, Mitchell Capps and his wife Sara, Billy Wilson and Mike Zager; five grandchildren, Nick Wright, Maria Mori, Drew Jarrett, Joey Jarrett and Luke Jarrett; great grandson,
Jayvon Mori and one great grandson due at the end of July. Janice also had many nieces and nephews who she loved as her own. Janice was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Capps; her sister, Jerri Ann Harp and her brother, Daniel Flatt.
