
Jean Hartley, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, December 8, 2014.
Jean was born in 1928 to Katherine (Rogers) and Robert Stafford II, in Kansas City, MO. Jean graduated from Central High School in 1945 and then attended Baker University and later became Province President of her chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. Jean married her high school sweetheart, James T. Hartley, on January 25, 1948. Jean and Jim had four children: Bob, Jamie, Bill and Jimmy. Jean loved her church, Mount Washington United Methodist, where she was active for over 50 years teaching and helping in all areas of the church. She was also a great student of the Bible and accomplished graduating the Menninger Bible Study course three separate times. Jean had a great passion for cooking and baking and was known for her cheesecakes which she often gave to friends and family. She was known as “Mema” to many especially her family. Jean had no regrets in life, and she would not have done anything differently. Jean leaves behind three children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
