She grew up in Independence, MO where she met her husband John. They got married on October 14, 1950 and were married for 70 years. Together they had three sons. They moved to Texas and Arizona before moving back to Missouri in 2008. One of Jean’s favorite things to do was being a puppeteer for 14 years in Texas and Arizona. She did shows for the churches, care centers, and retirement centers. She was a member of Connection Point Church in Raytown for 13 years.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Georgia; sister, Opal Smith; brother, Bill Shultz; and brother, George Shultz.
She is survived by her husband, John Matlock; three sons, Wesley Matlock (Joyce), David Matlock (Cindy), and Wayne Matlock (Glenda); nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Shultz (Nancy); sister-in-law, Beverly Shultz; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, service 2 PM, on Tuesday, June 22, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO.
