Jean Ellen (Schumacher) Sage, age 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11AM, with Rosary Prayer at 9:30 AM and Visitation starting at 10AM, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N Cleveland Ave, Kansas City, MO 64117. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Jean was born on October 8, 1934 in Plentywood, MT to parents Peter and Alice (Clink) Schumacher. She graduated from Great Falls High School in 1952. During her senior year of high school, she started her long career in telecommunications in Great Falls, MT with Mountain Bell. She married Lloyd Herbert Sage in 1952 and stopped working for Mountain Bell to raise her family. Lloyd, Jean, and their family moved to Kansas City in 1965 and she reentered the workforce in 1966 with Southwestern Bell. She retired in 1989 from AT&T after 25 years of service. After her retirement from the telecommunications industry, Jean went to work at Burlington Coat Factory, where she spent 18 years.
Jean was a very accomplished musician and began playing the organ at age 15 in funeral homes and went on to accompany uncountable masses, weddings, and funerals.
Jean was a devout catholic, long standing member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, and was part of the Charismatic Catholic Renewal. She was involved with Church Women United, The United Council of Catholic Women, as well as several other religious affiliations.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Lloyd Sage Jr. and Steven Sage; daughter, Angela Sage; and granddaughter, Brandie Dunbar.
She leaves behind her daughters, Helen Sage (John Donnici) and Patricia Sage; son, Loren (Lorie) Sage; daughter-in-law, Karen Sage; siblings, Rita (John) Cerny, Donna (Art) Sterling, Peter (Susan Wagner) Schumacher, and Susie (Dan) Nardinger; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Jeans family suggests contributions in her memory be made to St. Gabriel Parish.
