

Jeanne Whitaker, 80, Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away March 6, 2012 at Kingswood Manor. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas. Graveside service 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Elsmore Cemetery, Elsmore, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105. Mrs. Whitaker was born October 16, 1931 in West Point, Virginia, daughter of Lloyd H. and Lucy L. (Norman) Davis. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia. She married Jack R. Whitaker, a Navy Seaman, on January 1, 1955. After moving to Kansas City she was a homemaker and in 1970 worked at UMKC, retiring at the age of 62. She became a grandmother and helped care for her granddaughter Zoe. She was an avid bridge player. She was a member of Village Presbyterian Church and its Women’s Circle and was a Deacon. Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1976. She is survived by her mother-in-law Meryl Fisher of Overland Park, Kansas; daughters Beth and husband Thomas Aber of Kansas City, Missouri, Sue Whitaker of Kansas City, Kansas, and Patricia Whitaker (Ruth Lambert) of Charlotte, South Carolina; sister Elizabeth Ley of Overland Park, Kansas; and granddaughter Zoe Aber.
