Jeffrey R. Petrie died on December 17, 2018. He was born April 21, 1979 in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Kathy Petrie, grandfather, Jack Petrie, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian Petrie, grandparents, Bobbie Petrie, Jerry and Jeanne Holmes, and uncle, Bill Petrie.
Jeff graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1997. He earned an associates degree at Johnson County Community College in 2001.
In spite of his severe physical limitations, Jeff led a full and interesting life. A gifted artist, he lost the ability to draw in his late teens. He then turned his interest to music and became a featured member of the live music scene in Kansas City. A huge trivia buff, he was a key member of a team that won numerous events.
Jeff was on the staff of the Kansas City Irish Fest since 2005, and made many new friends, greatly enriching his life and theirs. He was best known as “The Irish Fest Answer Dude”. Jeff’s calm and quiet demeanor belied a determined and strong-willed character. He was known for his wry sense of humor.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held at the K.C. Irish Center, 3301 Baltimore, K.C. MO. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Remarks at 5:30 p.m.
