
Jeffrey Edward Burgess was born May 20, 1962 in Butler, Missouri and passed away September 26, 2015 in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 2 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.
He leaves behind his partner Jeremy Carr; parents Tom and Judy Burgess of Olathe, Kansas; sisters Jennifer (Troy) Harp of Osawatomie, Kansas and Jessamy Burgess of Olathe, Kansas; nephews Beau Butler, Truman Harp and Thomas Harp of Osawatomie, Kansas; niece Burgess Butler of Olathe, Kansas; extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ted and Thelma Underwood, Charles and Mabel Burgess; and companion Steven Brazier.
Jeff was in the first kindergarten class of Ballard School, and graduated high school with that same class in 1980. In between he attended schools in Hawaii, Washington, Maryland and California. He began his career in nursing as a cook at Adrian Manor, Adrian, Missouri, and worked as a CNA while attending college. He received his nursing degree from Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, Missouri in 1994, and then worked at hospitals in Springfield, Missouri, New Orleans, Louisiana and Kansas City, Missouri.
Jeff loved to travel and visited Turkey, Greece, Egypt, The Netherlands, and Argentina. He always knew how to make a good story a little better in telling. Jeff delighted in his dog Gertie, and his red Cadillac.
