Jeff, born March 23, 1951, was son of Brice and Margaret (Marge) Schneider and came from a family with strong spiritual roots in the St Louis area. His parents were members of the New Apostolic Church - Affton Congregation. Jeff’s father passed away when Jeff was a young teenager.
Jeff graduated from Affton High School in 1969. In 1972, his mother moved to the Kansas City area where she married William Henry (Bill) Schmidt. Marge and Bill purchased a house in Raytown. During this time, Jeff attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He graduated in 1973 with an Industrial Arts Degree.
After his graduation, he moved to Kansas City and lived with Marge and Bill. The three regularly hosted church members at their house for delicious dinners and moments of fellowship on Sunday afternoons.
His first job after graduation was as a draftsman at Patent and Trade Drafting. Jeff then was employed at Pitman Manufacturing in Grandview as a welder. Jeff used his skills and craft to help build utility service trucks and construction equipment. He also earned an Associate Certificate of Award in Occupational Studies Electronic Technology at Electronics Institute on September 27, 1994. This award opened the door for future career opportunities in the emerging field of electronics.
Jeff enjoyed learning and studying about cars and their engines. He became a proficient expert on car trivia details and their history. He also enjoyed playing softball, especially at church picnic games.
Jeff’s core energy and his life purpose was focused on pursuing spiritual treasures; He loved the Lord, the church, people in the church and his neighbors. He found various ways to express this adoration by serving the Lord. He was gifted musically. He was blessed with a rich tenor voice from his father. Jeff was a lead tenor in the local and district church choir for over fifty years where he sang duets. Jeff was an assistant choir director for the Raytown Congregation. He also enjoyed singing in the church male choir.
Jeff was an accomplished violin player. He regularly played solo or duet pieces for church Christmas programs. Jeff was a member of the local and district church orchestras at church services over many years. Jeff loved music and he shared this talent by bringing happiness to others through soul-felt musical expression. He continued sharing this gift while he performed at the assisted living center where he resided in the latter part of his life.
Jeff further devoted his love and dedication to the Lord by his ministry as an ordained Deacon from August 5, 2001 until his retirement on February 28, 2016. He attended and supported numerous church activities including minister’s meetings, religious instruction, family visits, and church small group discussions. Jeff made many weekend trips to congregations in other states to support members in outlying congregations. He often participated in divine services as a minister who would speak during a portion of the sermon. He had a deep spiritual understanding of the New Apostolic teaching and faith.
Jeff also gladly performed behind the scenes tasks. For decades he helped the church lawn crew manicure the property and helped facilitate monthly church dinner fellowships. Regardless of the task, Jeff was always there and always willing to help with a humble, loving attitude. This is the noble legacy Jeff leaves to us by his example.
Jeff is preceded in death by Brice Schneider (father), Margaret Schneider (mother) and William Schmidt (step-father).
A funeral service will be held Saturday August 23, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 am followed by Memorial Service at 11:00 am at the New Apostolic Church at 13212 State Line Road, Leawood, Kansas.
