Ms. Jerri Lee Brewster was born October 2, 1953 in Kansas City, MO. Jerri was married to William Kevin Brewster in 1971 and divorced 2 years later. She was advised not to have children due to her Diabetes complications, and gave birth to a stillborn daughter in 1972. Against all odds she gave birth to her only son William Eric Brewster in 1973. As a single mother she put herself through college at Penn Valley while working full time at Marcer, which turned into M.A.S.T, and raising her son. She was recognized in 1981 by the ASI for her exemplary work in The Hyatt Tragedy. She single handedly worked dispatch for the first 3 hours of the Tragedy, and had the first ambulance on scene within 3 minutes. She was the first woman in Johnson County to qualify for a Firefighter position to prove that in spite of her Diabetes, she was a fighter and could do anything she put her mind to. Anyone that knew her, knew that she had the biggest heart and always wanted to help people however she could, and that she was tough as nails and protected the ones she loved with everything she had. She is deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
