Jerry Lee Ferguson, age 72, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his closest loved ones including his pets on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was born on October 3, 1950 in Keokuk, Iowa to Harold and Esther Ferguson. Jerry was brought up on a farm having daily responsibilities as the oldest of 3 siblings. Jerry was a manager for Skaggs Drug Store at different locations for many years in multiple states, eventually transferring to Kansas City. He then became the Custodial Supervisor for the North Kansas City School District for many years before retiring in 2006 at the early age of 56. After retiring, he enjoyed working at Hurricane Valley Car Wash for 14 years to keep busy in which he became part of the "Old Man's Club". Jerry met the love of his life, Tina, in 1991 and they were married in 1994 and spent 30 wonderful years together before her passing in 2021. Jerry was known as a self made engineer building a lake house (Ferguson's Corner) on a 30+ acre lot from the ground up, doing all of the work himself; including plumbing, electrical, etc. It was not uncommon for him to be planning his next project. He was a huge animal lover bringing home a wide variety of animals to keep as his pets, even rehabilitating a duck back to its normal habitat. Jerry was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, golfing, camping, hunting, and being on the lake. He always enjoyed relaxing and grilling for his family, especially his famous teriyaki chicken wings, in his outdoor cooking area, which was one of his last big projects. Thanksgiving was one of his favorite holidays spending time with his family and making his favorite oyster dressing. He always had a positive outlook and humorous personality, even until the very end. Jerry was an amazing husband and father and a man of his word that would do anything for the ones he loved.
Jerry is preceded in passing by his wife and his parents.
