Jerry Lane Jones, of Raymore, MO, slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord on October 14, 2013. Jerry was 82. Jerry Jones was born on his family's farm near New Cambria, MO on December 9, 1930. He was the eldest of three children born to Sarah Pauline Grimshaw and Prosser Ray Jones. Jerry spent his early days helping his dad on the farm and playing baseball. He never spent much time studying, but graduated as Valedictorian at New Cambria High School in 1948. He went on to attend Northeast Missouri State Teachers' College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, MO. Jerry attended college for one year before enlisting in the United States Army and serving in the Korean War. He then went on to serve with Groves Brothers and Company for 60 years. An avid sports fan, Jerry was able to enjoy one last glimmer of hope in the Royals and Chiefs, and he was hopeful for a World Series victory for the St. Louis Cardinals. He actively served on the Missouri Real Estate Board and the Board of the Methodist Benevolent Association. His favorite past time was his grandkids. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, father, and youngest sister, Shirley Bohling. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Mary Jones. He also leaves behind his sister, Annella Crandall of Hanover, IL, two brothers, Bud Jones of Odessa, MO, and Bobbie Jones of Jefferson City, MO, three children, Alan Jones, Judy Myers, and Valerie Mathis, their spouses, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, all of Raymore, MO. His sometimes stubborn, yet determined and gentle spirit persevered until the end. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, until we meet again. Jerry's life will be celebrated on Friday, October 18 at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
