Jerry was born on July 17, 1935 in Tuscumbia, Missouri to Norman Tennyson and Amy Laura Wyrick. He lived and worked the farm till he graduated from Tuscumbia High School in 1953.
On July 17, 1953 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served as a tank crewman. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 16 1956.
After being discharged from the USMC he got a job as a utility guard at the Jefferson City Missouri State Penitentiary. And worked there for two years. On May 17, 1958 he married Shirley Ruth Wyrick and enjoyed 48 years of marriage and they had 3 children together.
In 1958 they made the move to Kansas City, Missouri. He then got a job at The Bendix Corporation and worked in maintenance. He retired from there in 1992 as a maintenance supervisor. He took it easy for a couple of years but he got restless. Then took a position as a security guard with Reese Security and stayed there for 18 years.
Jerry had many hobbies which included horseshoes, mowing the lawn and of course watching his Kansas City Chiefs! His number one love was playing his guitar and his music which he passed on to his grandchildren whom he adored.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ruth, his brother Jack, and his parents Norman and Amy Wyrick.
He is survived by his children Theresa Gray of Garden City, Missouri, Keven Wyrick of Leavenworth, Kansas, Tina Wyrick of Grandview, Missouri.
He was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mount Moriah Funeral home on July 10, 2021. Visitation at 2 pm and funeral at 3 pm.
