Jerry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 9th 1936 and lived most of his life in the Kansas City area, graduating from Paseo High School. Jerry had an unmistakably gregarious personality and never knew a stranger. He was quick with a smile and loved to talk about his favorite things: football, tennis, politics, and food (especially Kansas City BBQ).
Anyone who knows Jerry knows about his love for football, especially the Oklahoma University “Boomer” Sooners, Jerry’s alma mater. He was passionate about the Sooners and beamed with pride to anyone who would discuss Oklahoma football with him.
He was an avid tennis player and fan, and could be found on the courts at Crown Center (where he lived for many years) every single day.
Besides football, Jerry’s other great passion was music and singing. He had an incredible voice, as evidenced by anyone who was lucky enough to hear it. In college, he was a member of the “Four Lams,” a singing group who showcased the songs of the era.
Jerry had a successful career in real estate. In his later years, he was a proud co-owner of LaMar’s Donuts in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jerry is survived by his sister Maurine Piltz, nephew Mathew Piltz and his wife Tori, and their children Jackson and Brady Piltz.
A brief memorial will be held for Jerry on Saturday, November 5th from 6-8pm at his residence: 10107 Central Street, Apt. 308, Kansas City, Missouri 64114, in the Willow Creek Apartments.
