Jesse H. Rezabek-Laird, 32, died unexpectedly at home in Arvada, Colorado from a heart condition. He was the youngest son of Loren V. and Susan E. “Sue” (Mooneyham) Laird of Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his parents, grandmother Elise Mooneyham, sister Wednesday (Darrick) Gray, brothers Loren Laird III, Charles Laird and Lucas Rezabek-Laird as well as many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jesse was active in Boy Scouts for many years and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Mission, KS in 1999. Early on he showed himself to be quite the math whiz participating in many grade and middle school math tournaments. He was even given a special award for solving a math problem the judges did not have an answer to in one competition. His family was quite impressed by his genius in this area!
He attended Donnelly College in Kansas City, KS and the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO. Jesse found his passion in the culinary arts and worked at some of Kansas City’s finest dining establishments. He moved to Colorado in May 2011 and continued to work in the culinary field.
Jesse amassed antiques, Zippo lighters and beer steins – he obviously inherited the Mooneyham collectors’ gene. He was his nieces and nephews’ favorite uncle. He will be remembered by all for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and kind disposition. He was born prematurely, arriving three months early and leaving us far too soon. He is dearly missed by all.
