Jimmie Lynn Mitchell of Blue Springs, MO, passed away August 19, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital at age 82. He was born in Paragould, Arkansas, on December 24, 1935. He served 2 years in the Army during the Korean War.
Jim spent nearly his entire life in the automobile business. He loved selling cars and he loved the friendships he made with his customers. Many became his customers for decades. Jim began by working for Lasater Ford in Buckner in 1957. It was there he met his wife of 49 years Beverly Lasater, the owner’s daughter. He left in 1973 and began his own business, Jim Mitchell Motor Mart in Independence, which he was very proud of. He worked many long nights and weekends until closing shop in 1992. He had a homecoming of sorts, when he returned to Buckner later that year and worked for Matt Ford until this last December. The final eight months of his life he continued to sell cars by helping open M&H Motors.
Jim always worked hard and always did things his own way. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Beverly and sons Robert (wife Helen, daughter Faith), Christopher, and James (wife Laura, daughters Finley, Wyatt, and Carson). He was preceded in death by his eldest son David (son Brent).
