

Josephine “Joan” Ann Herring peacefully passed away June 25, 2011 at home with family after a long struggle with her health. She was born on July 28, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska, but spent most of her life in Kansas City, Missouri. Joan is preceded in death by her husband Richard F. Herring.
She is survived by her children Rick, Chris and his wife Becky, Greg and his wife June, John and his wife Libby, all of Kansas City. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren Leslie, Tom, David, Jack, Andrew, Jeremy, Danny, Jamie, Matthew, Scott, and Ashley: and her sister, Dorothy her husband Angelo, as well as her brother, Chuck and his wife Helen.
Joan attended high school at St. Anne’s Academy in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she met her husband Richard. After retiring from her work at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Joan enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. She spent her final year in the home of her son John, surrounded by her family. Her Bright smile and loving spirit will be greatly missed by her many friends and family members. The family would like to give special thanks to Kansas City Hospice for the kind assistance that they gave to Joan in her last days.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City, Missouri 64111, with a rosary being prayed at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Redemptorist Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri.
