Joan Stockdale

She was born July 25, 1928 in Kansas City ,MO. She attended Southwest High School then spent a year at Missouri State College in Warrensburg, MO. This is where she met the love of her life, Sam Stockdale . They were married 67 years.

She was a homemaker and spent many hours volunteering in hospitals. She loved to golf at Indian Hills Country Club and playing bridge with her many friends. Shopping was her passion. She was very generous with all her children. She and Sam loved to travel spending many winters in Florida and Arizona.

They belonged to the Village Presbyterian Church for 50 years then became members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Sam Stockdale, her parents Raymond and Mary Pitman and her brother Ray Pitman. She is survived by her children Terri Berry, Jack (Bette) Stockdale, and Becky (Vern) Peterson; grandchildren Steven (Sandy) Berry, Michael (Shari) Berry, Tina Berry, Matt Stockdale, Luke Stockdale, Katie (Bryce) Betcher, Sam and Tezeta Peterson; 9 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
