Joanne Lee Dexter, 91, Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away February 27, 2017. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Dexter was born January 11, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of Leland and Pearl E. (Suess) Scott. She had worked for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Her memberships included ABWA (President), Lost Child Network Auxiliary, former member of Gideon Auxiliary, 1st Calvary Baptist Church, and Emmanuel Baptist Church, and current member of The First Baptist Church of Fountain Hills, AZ. Her main purpose in life was to be a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Dexter also enjoyed volunteering in various organizations and helping people.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dane Dexter. She is survived by her children Thomas, James and Cynthia Dexter, grandchildren Ashleigh, Brynn, Jamie and Jackie, extended family and friends.
