Joe Englert, 74, Independence, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2014 with his wife at his side. Visitation is from 1:00-2:30 PM Friday, June 27th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, with a committal service to follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
Joe was born August 20, 1939 to Joe and Ruth Englert, and lived most of his life in the Kansas City area, working as a heavy equipment operator. He met and married Mary Stevens Englert in 1989. In retirement, Joe loved to travel and play golf.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Michael (Carrie) Englert; daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Adams and step-son, Shawn (Christy) O’Roark. Also surviving are his brother, John (Edna) Englert, and sisters, Martha Pennington and Sue (Bob) Wendell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Southern Care Hospice, who graciously cared for Joe in his final days.
