To Johns Family:
I am just now hearing of John’s passing and I am shocked and saddened. My condolences to his family. John was the Director at the Quintiles KC site where I accepted my first job out of graduate school as a formulator. I remember him as a smart, warm, caring person and an excellent leader. He will be truly missed.

I met John when I started at Quintiles and learned a great deal from him. I'll always remember a business trip we took to Boston and dinner at Radius with Rafael and Jim. After leaving for SLC, I was lucky enough to be able to continue to meet up during trips there. It was always great to catch up and reminisce about our time together and the friends we shared in KC. Most memorable were our discussions of Rachael and our two Graces.
Our last visit was a week before the move back to KC - such an exciting time full of hope for a new adventure.
Rest well my friend - you are loved and will be missed...

I knew John for many years and consider him a good friend. I remember playing softball and basketball in the Marion league. Golfing and having a great time. I gave him my used lawnmower and one day it caught on fire; the way he told the story was so hilarious. So many memories, John will be missed. God be with your family as they grieve the loss of their dad.

It has taken me a bit to write this. John and I started at Marion about two weeks apart and over the years we basically grew up together. He was my boss for a bit, but more than that he was my friend. He was a wonderful person, but I know I don't have to tell you girls that. Please accept my condolences and know that I will continue to pray for you.

To John's family.
I was sad to hear about John. I worked with John for many years at the Marion site. John made everyone around him better both scientifically and as a person. He was smart and a quick learner. He was a humble hard working individual who was always giving credit to everyone but himself. Definitely a man of integrity. He will be missed as he made the world a better place.
Sincerely,

Rachael and Gracie, all family and friends of John.
There are no words to express how heartbroken I am about John. He was such a wonderful person. It is so hard to even say that in the past tense. I graduated with John and was so fortunate to have seen him a few times in the last year since he moved back to KC. This is such a tragic loss. May his daughters find comfort knowing he is no longer suffering and has rejoined his wife. I hope you both are able to find some peace.

This news came as a tragic shock to those who knew John, but obviously none more so than to Rachel and Gracie who have suffered unimaginable loss over these last few years. I hope that both of you can take some comfort in knowing that your dad was universally respected as a man of uncompromising integrity, boundless empathy and sincere humility. He was, as we say, a true mensch who loved all of his girls deeply and completely. John touched everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him and that’s an enduring legacy that cannot be erased. My thoughts are with Rachel, Gracie and the rest of their family.

Like others, I have been shocked and saddened by hearing the news of John's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues. Having worked with John for the last few years it is just hard to process. I guess my best memory and thought of him, is always this big smile, big handshake, and hello he'd give. Working remotely it would only be every month or so that we'd be together in person. But the sincerity and warmth he expressed was always wonderful.
