

He was born on June 10th in Kansas City. John lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He was a kind and gentle soul who always put others first and took great pride in supporting his loved ones through thick and thin.
He was a proud graduate of University of Kansas where he received his education and his lifelong passion in the field of appraising began. John was a member of the MAI in which he used for his profession.
He was also a member of St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to his family. John was called Papou (Greek for Grandfather) by many. He took great joy in sharing stories, passing on lessons, and spending quality time with friends and family, who will forever carry the legacy of his warmth and wisdom.
He has survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kathryn; his goddaughter, Isabella Marx and husband Nicholas; brother-in-law, Dennis Giatras and wife Joyce; nieces, Denise and Ashley Jenks; nephew Mark Giatras; as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends.
His parents Charles and Myrtle Cooper; sister Gloria Scholl and husband George; parents-in-law Spiro and Maria Giatras; sister-in-law Bea Giatras; nephews David Giatras and Tim Jenks; and niece Christina Giatras preceded him in death.
A memorial service to celebrate John's life will take place at St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church located at 8100 West 95th Street, Overland Park, KS 66212 on March 5th, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11am. Burial is located at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, Kansas City, MO. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor a man who made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
