

John A. (Jack) Cosgrove, 97, of Olathe, KS, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014. Memorial services will be held 1:30 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at Santa Marta, 13875 W. 115th Terrace, Olathe, KS 66062. John was born on October 26, 1916 in Olathe, KS the son of Arthur Patrick and Leila (Dent) Cosgrove. John graduated from Olathe High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He then attended the University of Kansas as a Summerfield Scholar and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Jack was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. He met his future wife, Dorothy Noble, who was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After graduation, he was employed by General Motors Acceptance Corp., later with Burroughs Adding Machine Co. and TWA as a Pilot. During World War II, he served as a Pilot in the 9th Air Force in Europe and continued his service in the Air Force Reserves. Jack held Management positions with Standard Steel Works and later with Butler Manufacturing Co. He was a Charter member of the Johnson County Sertoma Club. During job transfers with Butler he became very active in Rotary, Blue Hills Country Club and the Kansas City Oilmens Club. He retired as a Butler Builder in Albuquerque and spent 11 years in Tucson before moving back to Kansas City. Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Brockway. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dotty; son, Hal Cosgrove (Barbara); daughter, Cynde Brookfield (Arthur); grandchildren, Arthur (Biff) Brookfield (Cathy), Tyler Brookfield (Amy), Cam Brookfield, Chris Cosgrove (A.J.), Cary Miller (Tripp) and 8 great grandchildren; Quinn Chase, Cooper, Caitlyn, Chloe, Dutton, Delany and J.T.
