

John Edward (Eddie) Morris died January 31, 2018 at the home with his family present. He was born in Queens, NY February 28, 1938. His parents, John J. Morris and Hannah Mary (Brick) Morris, were Irish immigrants who raised their four children to be proud Irish Catholics.
Eddie graduated from St. Mary's High School, Long Island,NY, Kansas State University and earned his MBA from Central Missouri State University. He earned his college degrees while working full time and raising children with his wife, Janet. They married young and had an enduring love rooted in faith and family. They were together for 57 years.
Eddie was an Army Veteran. He worked as a civil servant for 28 years for the Post Office and the IRS. His volunteer activities includes Knights of Columbus and election poll worker. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his tomatoes with his friends at St. Patrick's.
Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his sister, Maureen and brother, Michael.
He is survived by his wife, Janet and children, Laura Knapp (Mark), Lee, John (Leanne), Eileen, Patrick (Terri), and Michael (Joe Frear), his sister, Ellen (Steven) Tyrrell, and sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Dollar and Teresa Mann (Jimmie) and his grandchildren: Melanie, Matthew, Audrey, Courtney, Daniel, Luke, Katlyn, Tyler, and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Eddie was a good man, loving husband and father. He was devout, compassionate, full of life and laughter. We will miss him deeply, but will always treasure the memories he's given us.
The family greatly appreciated the kindness and care of the Kansas City Hospice Team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bishop Sullivan Center or Catholic Relief Services.
Visitation on February 9, 2018 at 10:00am at St Patrick's Church (Kansas City, North), to be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am. Inurnment at a later date, Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan, KS.
