My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Guckien family. I recently heard about John's passing. I remember him from LT and how kind and funny he was. I am Blessed to have been able to visit with him last year at the reunion. Looking through all the posted pictures of John and his family, I see nothing but a true and wonderful Father, Husband and friend. I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless.

My condolences to the Guckien family. I was so saddened to hear the news of a good friend. I still laugh at our times painting for his brother Steve, our boss, during high school summers. His infectous smile and competitiveness is what I will always remember most about John. Ir was great to visit with him during our recent high school reunion and here him talk with much pride about his family. May you hold his memories dear to your heart and know that he is at peace with our Lord. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I never met John face to face, but I felt like I knew him well. When I heard his voice on the conference call, or saw an incoming instant message or e-mail from him, I knew there was an honest, righteous soul on the other end of that conversation that would do all he could to help me answer a question or work toward resolving an issue. Someone I could trust – a friend.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with John on each of the projects we shared over the last several years. No one ran a project better than John. His organizational and communication skills were unsurpassed. He was focused and on task, but always professional and courteous. He worked tirelessly to find the right people and pass along the necessary information to get things done and keep us all moving forward. He poured himself into a project and generously gave of himself to make it succeed.
John will be sorely missed by all of his coworkers and friends at Sprint. I mourn with you all and pray for comfort and the peace that surpasses all understanding for each of you. May God bless you and hold you in His arms.

Dear Tish, Sarah, Chris, Katie, JV and June, Bill And Kim, Steve and Lisa, and of course, Johnny and Corey. The time we spent at John's bedside was one of the saddest times in my life. Yet, you all sustained me, and helped guide me through this terrible tragedy by allowing me to talk about what Johnny meant to me. The stories are endless; about how tough Johnny was on the gridiron, to his diplomatic skills in navigating the many factions/groups that made up a huge High School like LTHS. Since the fourth grade we've been friends. Later, he stood at my wedding as my best man ( and I at his), and we were genuinely respectful and glad for each other's happiness. Although our paths took us to completely different parts of America, it didn't matter the distance, as we reconnected immediately whenever we spoke. John always talked about Tish and the kids. He was so proud of all of you. He was correct in doing so. My recent visit only reinforced all his bragging, as your family has shown true class in the face of this tragedy. I will miss Johnny on many levels, but mostly for his friendship and love. Rest in Peace, my friend. You and your family will forever be in my prayers. Love, John Goodwin

Tish,Sarah, Chirs, Katie, JV,June, Bill, Kim, Steve, Lisa, Johnnie, Corey:Please know that my heart goes out to all of you over the loss of one of my closest friends(since February 1965). Had so many memories and laughs w/ John; John was like no other individual I have ever known: hard-charging; passsionate; caring; loving. I am going to complile some snippits of thoughts and memories I had growing up w/ John and of my favorites was when I was just 8 years old; having moved form Lousville Ky and starting mid year second grade in Ms Hunt's class:"what's that accent you got" John remarked after my first weeek in school. You better believe I lost the "yes maaaam's" that day! He called them as he saw them w/ puncuated enthusiasm and lived his life the same way. Tish, John V and June: you all did so much for me in my early years: memories of John and you all will last till the end of time!
