John Hainje, 96, passed away on May 26, 2017. John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen Joan Hainje, and his seven siblings. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Julie Hainje, and their children, Jessica, Matthew and Daniel; and his daughter and son-in-law, Gayla and Curtis Kellogg. John was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic with Phil Cochran’s Air Commandos; he was stationed in Burma. Most of John’s career was spent as a Regional Sales Manager who sold golf products and apparel to pro shops; he was retired for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer, proud of being the first member of Brookridge Country Club and having 11 holes-in-one. At various times, he was a member of PGA West, Wilshire Country Club, Wolf Creek and St. Andrews Golf Clubs. John played with some of golf’s legends, including Arnold Palmer, and once even beat Ben Hogan. John also enjoyed playing cards, chewing tobacco, and never more than 2 bourbons a day. John was a self-made man, a fighter, who had a hard time sitting still. Cheers, Dad, to a great, long life. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2 at Mt.
